The Plan for 2020

Hi, so here is the plan for 2020:

  1. Get a 3D printer and learn how to use CAD software (will do some test prints and stuff to make sure I know what I'm doing).
  2. Make a rudimentary 3D model of my hand in CAD (or Blender, depending on whatever is easier), and then get some actual dimensions, proportions and ratios for my hand to gauge what a proper bionic hand should be sized at.
  3. Purchase some motors that can work with an Arduino microprocessor, something that can actuate accordingly to simulate hand movement.
  4. Print out the components required to make my hand operational.
  5. Assemble it, complete the wiring and run some basic tests and debugging on my code.
  6. Hopefully that should be nice and complete.

This is the first step in achieving my dreams, so hopefully it should take this whole year to accomplish this, and then eventually it's on to improving the hand, and hopefully acquiring a bigger funding pool to pursue this project to make both better hands, but one that can replicate human movement precisely with Myo-electric stimulus.

Free Cybernetics

This is a project of mine starting 6th April 2020. I've always been fascinated with the concept of interfacing machines with Mankind.

Essentially, I'm trying to learn how to program/engineer, and produce cybernetic parts for the human that meet, and or supercede the function of the human body.

The plan (right now) is to try attain a 3D printer, some electronics like an Arduino Microprocessor, servos/motors to produce a prototype hand that responds to myo-electric input. That's my goal for 2020.

Long term, the goal is to try make a hand that is equal to human function in terms of speed, accuracy, responsiveness to input and similar weight.

I will keep this blog updated weekly (or monthly depending on how long certain things take), and take photos of the project that I'm undertaking/books/texts that I'm reading to trying to achieve this.

In a week or two, I'll hopefully have my first prototype design completed (both paper, and Blender with textures), and will post them on here
